Nigerian Afrobeat singer and songwriter, Simisola who is known popularly as Simi has disclosed why she left Gospel music and swerved to the Afrobeat genre.
She disclosed this while appearing as a guest on MTV Base Africa’s Official Naija Top 10 programme where she announced that she was paid from 5k to 10k most times she performed in churches.

According to her utterances, she confirmed that poor financial institute was the key reason she left the Gospel genre for Afrobeat recalling that the highest amount she earned during this era was 70k.
Adding to her revelation she astonishingly disclosed that even though she was funded poorly she still paid 10% tithe to her congregation.
Her words:
“I actually used to go to a lot of churches to perform. They will pay me like N5k, N10k. Do you know the highest amount of money I actually collected when I was doing gospel [music]? N70,000. And I felt like I had arrived. I still paid a 10 percent tithe from the money.”
