The Economic and Financial Crimes commission disclosed that the ex governor of Kogi state who have been accused of a N 80.2bn fraud had made a mockery of the Justice sector of the nation after failing to appear before the trial court on the appointed date.

The Benin zonal command acting director, Mr Effa revealed this during a visit to the Delta state council of the Nigerian Union of journalists in Asaba,  the Delta state capital, he revealed that the commission now has a legal battle with Bello over the alleged 80.2bn fraud.

Following failed attempt to arrest him and his repeated absence from the court when ever he is scheduled to appear before the court for official hearing and arraignment, the EFCC has openly declared Bello wanted and the immigration have also placed the governor on their radar.

While being interviewed, The EFCC was asked why the commission is yet to arrest Bello weeks after he has been declared wanted and an answer came from Irate Okim,  who claimed that the governor was being covered up by  the system.

“This is the last question i expected because the shame is on all of us, is that a question is should answer alone? it’s not me, it is the federal republic of Nigeria

“That politically exposed Yahaya Bello whose crime has been traced to him by allegations and has been invited by the EFCC  to come and explain, and for months he is acting drama and we are all here wanting to ask questions, the shame is our shame.

“Can’t we catch him? we can, but do we go all out? do we need to that when he has masters? can’t they call him and tell him, “you are disgracing Nigeria”? what are you telling the world? Tell him to go and explain himself like others have done.

“Where are the ministers? where are Yahaya Bello’s colleagues, even in his hiding? So Nigerians can’t tell him “this is not fair, go and report yourself” they are not going to kill you” but people are still eating and dinning with him”

According to Okim, Yahaya’s case is not just about legality but also morality.

” Where has morality gone that we cannot summon that man and tell him to go and report himself to the EFCC? some persons are writing, supporting him while some are criticizing the commission.

“The problem is our problem, that borders on Nigeria’s image, our children are watching their parents behave like children.

“To me, the truth has varnished, even in animal farm, this will not happen, that a man who was part of the system that was a custodian of our culture, rules and laws can behave like this and you are asking questions.

“The media should come out for the first time and harmonize, criticize that action and forget about prosecution but tell him to make himself available: there after we know what we can do”

Clearly stating that the criminal justice has been mocked by Bello’s actions “And because we respect the law, we want to go by the process, we are inhibited that does n
