Anthony Joshua, the former heavyweight champion, just moved into a new home in north London, leaving behind his mother’s apartment. The 2012 Olympic winner, who reportedly possesses about £100 million in savings, disclosed that he had moved out. He complimented his mother, Yeta, and added that he remained in her apartment to make sure she was okay.

“I wanted to make sure that her foundations were strong—the nest was strong—so that when I leave, mom’s good. For me, that’s freedom. Knowing no matter where I am in the world, mom’s happy and taken care of,” he told BBC reporters.

The British-Nigerian fighter will compete for the IBF title against fellow Brit Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in London on September 21. After Oleksandr Usyk, the current champion, confirmed he would give up the world title, this fight was set up.

After defeating Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia last month, Usyk became the first heavyweight to hold the titles of IBF, WBO, WBA, and WBC. But he was about to lose the IBF belt because the organization required him to fight Dubois in order to save it.

After defeating Filip Hrgovic to take the interim IBF title earlier in June, Dubois declared his intention to unseat Joshua, the two-time world champion. Being the best is all I’m aiming for, Dubois stated.

“To fight the best and beat the best. Joshua has been the king for a long time. On the night, I need to become the king slayer. That’s my goal, and that’s the mission I have. I’m ready to let my fists do the talking. A hundred percent ready to go, train like a beast. So bring it on.”

Usyk defeated Dubois last year, but Joshua, 34, lost to the Ukrainian again in 2021 and 2022. But Joshua is now riding a four-fight winning streak, having won three of his previous four fights via stoppage. Even though Dubois will be making his first appearance as the main attraction at the national stadium, it will be his fourth visit to Wembley.

“It was a good fight between the two of them. I picked Dubois to win as well; I watch boxing closely, and I picked him before. He came through, and we are here. I’ve been having Dubois on my mind for a while. He’ll be on my mind for the next 12 weeks until I’ve got my hand raised,” Joshua said.
