Ebenezer Smith, a.k.a. Millennium Chef Smith, a chef from Ghana, was taken into custody at the La Police Station after breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Smith gave his supporters a certificate attesting to the fact that he had become the new world record holder for the 820-hour 25-minute cook-a-thon, which began on February 1 and ended on March 6, 2024.

His cook-a-thon resulted in a star-studded event with the Asakaa Boys, Praye Tietia, Yaw Tog, Amerado, and Kofi Jamar among other musicians.

The chef declared, “Today is the day that I will forever remember,” at the briefing, which took place at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra. As the Guinness World Record holder, I am deeply humbled and honored to be here today.

“We inform the general public and the media about Millennium Chef Smith’s press conference with great pleasure and honor,” the Ghanaian chef stated in a previous social media post.

“He will be announcing his results from the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. The event will take place at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 2:00 pm. Thank you for your cooperation.”

Alina Polianskaya, the PR executive for GWR, confirmed to the BBC that his certificate was invalid. She added, “No, this is not true at all.” That is not our certificate, and he does not own the GWR title.

“The current and true record holder is: The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 119hr 57 min 16 sec and was achieved by Alan Fisher (Ireland) in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from 28 September to 3 October 2023,” Alina added.

He was taken into custody by the police not long after he flaunted his credentials and declared his phony record.

It has been discovered that Smith had received funding from several of his sponsors to do a cook-a-thon, which he failed to properly submit for GWR. As a result, a sponsor who identified himself as the proprietor of the Amadia Shopping Mall—name withheld—arrested Smith after learning that he had donated over 350,000 cedis to the course.

All attempts to get in touch with the LA Police for a statement were unsuccessful. The letter was not delivered to the address listed on their website, and their phone number was inaccessible.

At 119 hours and 57 minutes, Irish chef Alan Fisher holds the record for the longest cooking hours. His accomplishment surpasses the previous record held by Hilda Baci of Nigeria by 24 hours.

“Alan Fisher (Ireland), an owner and chef of a restaurant in Japan, has broken two cooking-related Guinness World Records titles.

“First up, he’s claimed the longest cooking marathon (individual) after clocking in a time of 119 hours 57 minutes. That is more than 24 hours longer than the previous record held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci.”
