After visiting now-famous Igbo folklore artist, Mike Ejeagha in his town in Enugu state Nigeria, popular comedian and content creator Chukwuebuka Amuzie, known as Brain Jotter, has stated no money has been made from the song for himself since inserting the tune to his dance video.

In a video posted on his Facebook page, the comedian noted, “For those who think we ripped him off or we’re making money from this whole thing, I understand your concerns and they are very valid. I appreciate the fact that you want him to get value for his hard work, which is very valid, and I want you to understand that you are doing something good,”

The video consists of his visit and interaction with the family of Mike Ejeagha the content creator explained that he has not made any money from using the song to create fun on his social media platforms. “At the end of the day, no dime was made from this song by me, nothing like that. he explained.

Brain Jotter who explained the working policy of using other artists’ songs noted that the revenue generated from the song is paid directly to the owner as it is in the case of Gentle Mike.

“All those music where I did put out there  Instagram, Facebook, YouTube everything, the whole revenue is going to Mike Ejeagha’s record label, his production company,” he said.

In a more detailed explanation, he explained that copyright has limited the use of people’s songs on online platforms “You cannot even monetise another person’s song because these platforms have copyright violation tools. If I post that video on YouTube, YouTube strikes it for copyright and they give the revenue to the actual owner, which is Mike Ejeagha, if you post it on Facebook, Facebook will tell you outright that this song does not belong to you, it belongs to this person. They take the revenue and give it to the actual owner.”

Highlighting the wins from the song use, the comedian claimed that the song has increased in its listenership around different platforms which has helped in more revenue generation or the original owner of the sensational tune.

“The song increased its streams on streaming platforms massively, and there’s no way I can put the song on streaming platforms. So everything, all revenues, are going straight to Mike Ejeagha.”

While explaining his reason for gifting the elderly Gentle Mike two million naira, the comedian stated “The two million I gave him was from my pocket. My hard-earned money is just for humanity and not for profit. This whole thing is not for profit.”

Ending the video, the comedian explained that his only reward currently is the fulfilment of visiting, gifting and seeing the joy on the face of Igbo music don. “We got the reward, which is the joy in his heart now. The joy in his heart now is my profit”.

Recall that the comedian Brain Jotter had revealed on Sunday that he was searching for the over 90-year-old man pledging a gift of two million naira before his visit other notable individuals in the entertainment industry including Kcee visited the aged man to pay homage and offer different gifts.
