A 300-level student of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, Naja’atu Salisu, was on Friday found dead in the bathroom after waking up in the morning to prepare for her classes.
A source in the university hostel who spoke with the press noted that the student who was in the Computer Science Department before her death had not developed any form of illness before her sudden demise.
The spokesperson of the institution, Zailani Bappa, who confirmed the death of the student, noted the student was initially rushed to the clinic of the institution. Still, efforts by medical personnel failed as her vein was difficult to find, which delayed treatment.
The spokesperson further noted that the student was rushed to the Trauma Centre of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where an examination of her body proved that she was lifeless.
Bappa further explained that the student had been buried according to the Islamic religious procedure.
Speaking on the incident, the student Union Government, in a statement signed by the Secretary of the Union, Comrade Danladi Zakiru, described the student as a hardworking individual who has strived for success among her peers. He noted that the student will be greatly missed.
