The Lagos State Government closed down a number of business firms and religious institutions on Tuesday for violating the State Environmental Laws of 2017, stepping up its enforcement against entities that do so.

Following a Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency operation in the Ojo Local Government Area, the state government sealed the impacted businesses, which included churches, lodging facilities, bars, an event centre, and a recycling company.

The government claimed that all of the facilities were found to be in violation of the state’s stringent environmental requirements.

Babatunde Ajayi, the general manager of LASEPA, emphasised the agency’s dedication to maintaining environmental standards all through the state.

“We will not hesitate to take necessary actions against any establishment that fails to comply with the state’s environmental regulations, and we urge all businesses to take responsibility for their environmental impact and work with the state government to create a better future for Lagos,” Ajayi stated.

He reiterated LASEPA’s dedication to providing a safe and clean environment for all Lagosians, warning that the organisation will continue to monitor for compliance and take decisive action against any businesses that violates the law.

The following businesses have been noted to have  been sealed during the operation: Zion Believers Church, VLC Donald Restaurant & Event Centre, Mountain of Faith International Gospel, Jesus International Christian Church, Recycling Company, New Yorker Hotel, Rockslide Gospel Church, and VLC Donald Hotel.
