The Peoples Democratic Party has confirmed that two communities have been set up to invite the former governor and the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over allegations of anti-party activities.

The summon was confirmed by the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, on Monday while speaking on Channels Television’s morning programme, Sunrise Daily.

He noted that the former governor of Rivers State has been served a letter to appear before a committee set up by the party that the Tom Ikimi-led leads. He noted that the committee has been tagged as the PDP disciplinary committee, which the National Working Committee has set up.

He explained that the National Working Committee three weeks ago moved to set up two committees, which are the reconciliation and disciplinary, explaining that the former governor of Rivers State will appear before the committee which handles disciplinary allegations.

He noted that the committee will examine the allegations against the former governor. He said the party had received allegations against him in the past weeks. Some of the petitions he confirmed are allegations of anti-party activities sabotaging the party throughout the primary 2023 elections, which has caused misunderstanding in the party. According to him, the former governor and other individuals involved in the allegations have been sent to the party.

He disclosed that some party members had felt discontent with the former governor, who suggested they should not have been allowed to be at the level they are with the party. The individuals have been waiting for the leadership to make a decision.

The spokesperson, speaking on the former governor’s recent comments that he would put fire in Rivers state, condemned the utterances, noting that such comments were wrong and unacceptable. He dissociated the party from such comments, advising the party leader to manage his comments as the party was disappointed with the comments.

Wike, who addressed party members on Saturday at a PDP Congress in Port Harcourt, threatened that there would be a crisis in any state where the governor tries to interfere in the activities of River State. He went on to mock all the individuals who were against his position at the government of Bola Tinubu, saying that all those who were against the position should hug the transformer.

The comments of Abdullahi were coming just two days after the former governor made the condemnable comments in Rivers State. He has expressed happiness with the position given to him by the president as he continues to trouble the current governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, who supported him in power.
