Troops kill 150 insurgents arrest 109 other in one week says DHQ

A staggering number of 152 terrorists have been killed by the military while 109 others have been arrested in the past week, the Defence Headquarters announced on Friday in a statement.

The Director of Media Operations, Edward Buba, announced the success, explaining that the army, which is currently confronted by bandits’ activities in different parts of the country, has made great success in defeating terrorists.

Apart from the deaths and arrests made by the army, it was announced that the officers had destroyed two strongholds of two notorious terrorist leaders named the Sadiku enclave at Tsora Hill in Safana Local Government Area, Katsina State, and the Yusuf Enclave in Yadi Forest, Giwa LG, Kaduna State.

He noted that the army has continued to sustain the momentum in order to defeat the insurgents, still terrorising different parts of the country; he listed other individuals being fought by the army as insurgents, violent extremists and others perpetrating insecurity.

He explained that the fight has come with the task of learning daily, with the officers improving on their tactics. This has helped in the conduct of their operations against terror groups and restricted their actions.

He disclosed that the troops in the last week conducted several operations around the country, dismantled the strongholds of the terrorists, and rendered them powerless in Kastina State and Kaduna.

He disclosed the operation against the terrorists in the country helped in the rescue of 91 persons who were held hostage. While a total of 152 terrorists were neutralised, 109 were arrested.

He also disclosed the troops in their operations against the theft of crude recovered crude amounting N795 in the south-south part of the country.

He explained that those who bravely acted on intelligence and denied the theft of a long amount of crude amounting to N795,683,395.00, while the activities of oil theft were crippled in different locations such as Bugama, Idama, Cawtorne Channel and Krakrama, all in Rivers State.

Buba explained that the operation, aided by the deployment of an air component of the army, two female terrorist collaborators responsible for negotiations with relatives of victims for ransom were arrested.

The statement encouraged the citizens to always support the troops with relevant information which will help in the securing the country from terrorists.
