After an attack on the Primary Healthcare Centre at Kuyallo, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, two nurses and an unspecified number of patients were reportedly kidnapped on Monday.

Confirming the attack, Musa Alhassan, one of the leaders of a local Vigilante group, disclosed that the bandits had initially targeted the Government Day Secondary School, which was near the hospital.

He noted that bandits arrived on Monday, discovered the school was empty, and decided to attack the health centre, which was close to the school.

The source disclosed that the bandits asked about the state of the school and started the abduction of people at the health centre.

He disclosed that the bandit abducted two female nurses and several patients hostage, leaving the community in a state of panic. He noted the persons abducted were in place of the students who could have been the victims of the abduction. He went on to say that the exact number of the victims was still unknown.

Another eyewitness who spoke to the press explained that the bandits attacked the hospital in the early hours and arrived with guns and machetes wielding over them. The source noted that the bandits started drawing people from the hospital, but the people were helpless.

The police in the state and the government authorities have not confirmed the incident as at the time of filling in the report as contacts made with the Police Public Relations Officer in the state were unsuccessful as the calls were not responded to,

It was learned that the incident is the latest in a series of attacks by bandits in the state, highlighting the need for increased security measures to protect communities and healthcare facilities.
