Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi state, has removed Dr. Adamu Sambo from his position as commissioner of health.
On Monday, September 9, the announcement was made at the Government House in Bauchi at the swearing-in ceremony for three new Commissioners and a Chief Security Adviser.
Hajiya Zainab Baban Takko (LGA of Bauchi), Dr. Sani Mohammed Dambam (LGA of Dambam), Engineer Mohammed Abdulkadir (LGA of Itas Gadau), and retired Assistant Inspector General of Police Ahmed Abdulrahman (LGA of Kirfi) are the recently appointed officials. Chief Judge Justice Rabi Talatu Umar was represented by Justice Umar Faruk Sarki, who administered the oaths of office and allegiance.
Governor Mohammed declared that Dr. Adamu Sambo would be replaced as commissioner of health by Dr. Sani Dambam.
Hajara Gidado, who was elected Chairman of the Itas Gadau Local Government Council, would relinquish her position as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development to Hajiya Zainab Baban Takko.
After Mahmood Babamaji was elected Chairman of the Bauchi Local Government Council, Engr. Mohammed Abdulkadir will lead the Ministry of Commerce.
Chief Security Advisor Dr. Ahmed Abdulrahman assumes the position in the interim, after Ahmed Chiroma, who was fired on July 16, 2024.
In his explanation of the changes, Governor Mohammed cited the necessity to lower the expense of government, streamline administrative procedures, and execute the Supreme Court’s decision regarding local governments.
He said: “We have had to make changes, including dropping the former Health Commissioner, not due to any failure on his part, but as part of our leadership decisions.”
He went on to say that a representative from his local government would take the place of the late Alhaji Jalam, the Commissioner for Local Government, in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Zainab Baban Takko, one of the recently appointed officials, thanked the governor in a vote of appreciation and promised to use their experiences to further Bauchi State’s development.
She gave the governor her word that they would be devoted and faithful in their work.
