Troops of the Nigerian Army who are deployed at the counter-terrorism operations in Yobe and Borno have announced that they have killed no fewer than four terrorists in its recent operations. It was disclosed that the troops currently working in Yobe State had killed some terrorists who were operating a tax collection point at the Ngazargamu area in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
It was noted that the troops acted on intelligence and invited the hideout of the terrorists, which led to the death of the terrorists. The success was announced in a post on Friday made through the official X handle of the Nigerian Army it was disclosed that the troops during the operation recovered some weapons from the terrorists.
The statement disclosed that in the Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, troops who acted on credible intelligence launched an assault on Boko Haram terrorists operating a tax collection point in the Ngazargamu area. The statement further noted that the operation indicated an effort to get rid of all the remaining terrorists in the state.
It was noted that in an enduring fight which lasted for a long time, the troops successfully eliminated two terrorists and recovered a haul of weapons, including two AK-47 rifles, one FN rifle, 19 rounds of 7.62 mm (special) ammunition, five rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, two extra AK-47 rifle magazines and three mobile phones.
In another operation, it was disclosed that the troops who acted on intelligence in Borno State, along the Gamboru-Logomane road, troops ambushed ISWAP fighters, killing two terrorists. The troops also recovered two AK-47 rifles and sundry items at the scene.”
In the Kuje area of the Federal Capital Territory, the Nigerian Army said troops rescued no fewer than four kidnapped victims.
The statement further noted that the troops who were deployed to Gaube Village in swift action responded to a kidnapping incident in Dafara Village, Kuje Area Council. The troop’s prompt intervention led the troops to engage the criminals and successfully rescue the abducted persons, who were four in number.
The statement noted that on October 17, 2024, working alongside other security agencies, troops trailed and arrested a female firearms courier and her accomplice at Barikin Ladi Motor Park in Plateau State. It was further noted that the intelligence had revealed that this gun-running syndicate was smuggling arms from Plateau to terrorists in Zamfara State. The army noted that the successful operation led to the arrest of one Mrs. Fidausu Hassan and Mr. Sani Isah Musa. The troops recovered from the suspects 505 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition.
It was further disclosed that the troops raided the residence of a known terrorist in Ambakka village, located at the Plateau-Nasarawa border. The operation resulted in the arrest of Alhaji Adamu Bajara, a wanted person on multiple security watchlists. In the operation, it was noted that Three AK-47 rifles and two rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition were recovered from his residence while the troops continued to pursue his accomplices.
The statement also disclosed that the troops also responded swiftly to a report of cattle rustling in Mile 8, Pankshin Local Government Area; in the operation, the troops successfully recovered 46 stolen livestock after overpowering the criminals in the encounter, which lasted for several hours in the community.
