Seven new ministers have been added to President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet. The presidency released a statement Wednesday, announcing the appointment following Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting.
“In keeping with his pledge to Nigerians, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has authorised the immediate implementation of eight comprehensive measures to revitalise the administration’s capacity for maximum efficiency,” the statement said.
According to the statement, Jumoke Oduwole was named Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, while Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu was made Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. This appointment is included in the highly anticipated cabinet restructuring of Tinubu’s administration, which has been in power for more than a year.
Additionally, the President appointed Suwaiba Ahmad as Minister of State for Education, Dr. Nentawe Yilwada as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Yusuf Ata as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment and Idi Maiha as Minister for the recently established Livestock Development Ministry.
In 2011, President Goodluck Jonathan named Ojukwu, widow of the late Biafra leader Odumegwu Ojukwu, Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs. She was appointed Nigeria’s ambassador to Ghana in 2012 and then to the Kingdom of Spain.
Oduwole was Tinubu’s Special Advisor to the President on PEBEC & Investment before to being nominated as a minister.
The President also dismissed Abdullahi Gwarzo as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Jamila Ibrahim as Minister of Youth Development, Tahir Mamman as Minister of Education, Lola Ade-John as Minister of Tourism and Uju-Ken Ohanenye as Minister of Women’s Affairs.
Ten ministers were also moved to new ministerial posts by the president.
