Former President Donald Trump has declared himself the winner of the US election in Wednesday broadcast, but leading media organizations in the country have not projected any winner. The former president had claimed victory in swing states including Pennsylvania.
In his address, the former president thanked the American people for the extraordinary honour of being elected your 47th president and the 45th president of the country. He made the address at the organised victory party held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The former president noted that there was a heat at the beginning of the election, but he trusted the brain that made the choice.
Vice President Kamala Harris declined to address supporters in Washington, D.C., on election night after Trump won Georgia and North Carolina, the first two battlegrounds to fall in the 2024 race for the White House.
While speaking, Cedric Richmond, a co-chair of Harris’ campaign, addressed the crowd who had come out to support Harris. He noted that the vice president would not speak until later Wednesday.
He expressed optimism that there were still votes to count as he noted that there were states that have not been called. He emphasised that the vice president will speak on Wednesday on the election.
It has been believed that the decision by the vice president was due to the drastic shift in mood for her campaign aides, her supporters and Democratic officials as vote totals in battleground states suggested an increasingly narrow path to victory.
