As 2024 gradually fades, we deemed it imperative to examine the lives of the world’s billionaires and take inventory of their current net worth. It is surprising to find out that despite the global stock markets’ shrugging off of war, lingering inflation and perpetual political unrest that befell the year, the number of billionaires has significantly increased by 141 persons than last year.
According to Forbes’ 2024 records, there are now a total of 2,781 recognized billionaires globally with their aggregate amounting to $14.2 trillion. The record suggests that the aggregate increased by $2 trillion from 2023 and $1.1 trillion above the previous record set in 2021. About two-thirds of the list’s members are worth more than a year ago while only one-fourth are poorer.
The largest portion of the increments are from the world’s top 20 billionaires, who added a combined sum of $700 billion in wealth since 2023, and from the United States who now have over 813 billionaires with an estimated worth of a combined $5.7 trillion. China still secures the second position with 473 billionaires worth over $1.7 trillion while India, which has 200 billionaires ranks third.
