Super Eagles and Atlanta forward Ademola Lookman has been named the CAF African Best Player of the year.
Following his impactful season so far, Ademola Lookman surpassed all his nominees to clinch the trophy.
The Atlanta Forward has joined the likes of Rashidi Yekini, Nwankwo Kanu, Emmanuel Amuneke, Victor Ikpeba, and Victor Osimhen to become one of the African players to have clinched the award.
Lookman battled with tough nominees mainly Archiraf Hakimi, who he beat alongside Simon Adingra (Ivory Coast/Brighton), Serhou Guirassy (Guinea/Borussia Dortmund), and Ronwen Williams (South Africa/Mamelodi Sundowns)
It was supposed to be a tough decision but Ademola Lookman’s club and country performance made it quite easy.
Scoring a Hattrick against Leverkusen to incredibly clinch the Europa League trophy and his individual performances at Atlanta so far adds to his triumph.
Ademola Lookman also emerged to be the only African footballer to be nominated in the 2024 Balon d’Or, clinching the 8th position.
Since switching his national duty to Nigeria and participating in the 2024 AFCON where he dominated, Ademola Lookman has been in an incredible form, bagging goals and assists, week in and week out.
Leading Atlanta with consistent individual performances, they seat at the top of the Italian league.
