The Kastina State Government has announced a relaxation to the curfew imposed on the state due to the breakdown of law preceding the end of bad governance protests in the state.
Confirming the new directive, the secretary to the state government, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, noted that the security agencies’ briefings have satisfied the acting governor, Mallam Faruk Lawal, which has led to the new decision.
He explained that the acting governor had received a notification of an improvement in the state’s security after the protest, which broke out and became violent. The SSG explained that the governor had opened a review immediately to make life easier for the people.
The new directive reviewed the curfew from 7:00 to 7:00 am to 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.
While speaking on the situation, the acting governor applauded the state’s security agencies and all other citizens who cooperated with them to ensure order while the situation was being managed.
The statement from the SSG’s office, signed by the Director of the Press Office, Abdullahi Yar’adua, advised the citizens to be law-abiding in all instances as they resume their normal daily activities in the state.
Some residents of the state have cried for justice for the individuals killed during the protest that began August 1st in the state.
Unconfirmed figures state at least two minors were killed during the incident while other individuals were brutalised, sustaining various degrees of injuries.
The residents of the state on Saturday shamed the one million match and candlelight, which was an avenue to hours of those who lost their lives during the protest.
The aftermath of the protest has seen a series of arrests made across the country, with the leader of the movement being the major target of the security agencies. In Abuja, some of the leaders have been harassed, which has been believed to be the major reason for the low turnout of protesters for the one million match.
The protest has since reached its climax after 10 days.
