Sports enthusiasts may no longer find an easy means of streaming sporting events at the new NFL season, following the United State (US) government’s action against Streameast, a free streaming platform for sports lovers.

Usually, sport lovers who wish to receive minute-by-minute updates or stream their favourite sporting events, subscribe to monthly packages to gain access, but Streameast had over the years, made this service free and more easily accessible for millions of fans.

Recently, the cost for various subscription packages skyrocketed with many sports fans now possessing the likelihood of missing out on their favourite games. Although others may still be willing to pay no matter the amount, not all fingers are equal.

Those who may not be able to step up their subscription budgets may have had to fall back to Streameast for free access to their favourite games, but the United States government’s action has rendered them helpless.

What happened to Streameast?

According to reports, the US government has seized Streameast’s domain for illegal reproduction of copyright materials.

This was made known as fans who tried to access the popular website discovered a notice of the action boldly shared on the now restricted site.

“This domain name has been seized by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) pursuant to a warrant issued by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana under the authority of, inter alia, Title 18, United States Code, Section 2323,” the notice reads.

Recall that streaming and consuming pirated content is illegal under U.S. law. And according to the notice shared on streamfast’s website, “first-time offenders convicted of a criminal felony copyright violation face up to five years in prison, fines, restitution and forfeiture.”

In lieu of this, most sports lovers may not be able to keep up with their favourite games at the new NFL season except they are willing to spend a huge chunk of money for subscription packages or look elsewhere. Many are already considering alternatives, according to reports.
