Following recent buzz with Libya, the Super Eagles has been awarded three points and 3-0 victory amid Libya’s misconduct.

Last week, Nigerian national men’s football team were stranded in Libya following their away clash with Libya after narrowly beating them at home.

Troost Ekong who is the captain of the nation detailed their experience, calling on CAF to act upon their view.

According to him, their airplane which was meant to land at already booked destination in Libya was redirected to land in an abandoned airport where they were left stranded with no network and food.

Even though they made effort to exit the airport, they were left with no assistance, leaving them stranded in the airport for over 30hrs.

Troost Ekong in an official statement renounced their interest in playing the 2025 AFCON qualification with Libya and called on CAF to intervene.

After his plea, they were flew back to Nigeria where they returned to their various clubs.

Reacting to the situation, CAF thorougly explored the terrible experience and awarded Nigeria a 3-0 victory over Libya. Libya was also fined $50,000 for their unprofessional approach against Nigeria and also breaching CAf protocols.

Libya has automatically lost their home game against Nigerian and would likely fail to qualify for the 2025 African Cup Nation kicking off in Morocco. They sit at the bottom of their group table with just one point, while Nigeria is at the brink of qualification with 10 points.
