Former President Donald Trump and his supports have claimed that there have been cases of fraud in the electoral process in one of the important battle ground of Pennsylvania. In stating the allegations, the former president and its allies circualeted some videos online which suggested some voting irregularities but the officials shown appeared to be acting according to the electoral laws.
Some individuals have claimed that the the former president and his team were spreading the same kind of messages that were circulated years ago which experts think could be used by the Trump and his team to contest the election if he eventually losses the election.
Some of the speculated some videos online on Tuesday which suggested that there were long lines in Buck County, Pennsylvania, the video suggested that the voters were requesting for mail-ballot in person. Another social media post, which was circulated by Trump campaign political director James Blair, said a line in one area was shut down early, around 2:30 p.m.
Blair stated that the action was intimidating in his post made on X, which was viewed by over 1.8 million people. Some of the respondents and commenters, including Elon Musk, the owner of X, asked what was the reason for such an act.
Pennsylvania is one state that doesn’t offer in-person early voting. Election officials allow voters to request, fill out and return their mail ballots in person at the county elections office, casting a mail ballot early.
Bucks County spokesman James O’Malley said Tuesday that the officials had decided to shut down the long lines in order to conclude all the processes to ensure that all the office was closed down by 5 pm. It was learnt that only for election days did the law not state that the officials stay late because of the number of people that have been seen on the line.
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley on Tuesday Night told the crowd who had gathered at the rump campaign rally in Allentown that the party was going to court against the country. He noted that he was proud of the level of support at the event, disclosing that the team had filed a lawsuit against Bucks County for turning away some voters who were believed to be their supporters, noting Trump was ready to fight the injustice in court.
The filing on the docket Wednesday desired extended hours for requesting mail ballots and a declaration that Bucks County had broken the law.
In a communication made available by Bucks County they also acknowledged on X that there were some miscommunications with voters on Tuesday, the last day for counties to accept mail-ballot applications, but that voters were allowed to drop off their applications by 5 p.m.
Nate Persily, an election law professor, while speaking with NBC and the Stanford Law School professor, noted that Trump’s campaign is laying the legal groundwork to contest the election if Vice President Kamala Harris wins.
He noted that Trump was using the social media claims to put issues down, which will be used to contest the election in court if Kamala Harris eventually wins the election. The professor noted that they were also preparing the public for the likely charges that the election was defective and corrupt, or they may claim that it was rigged.
It was learnt that the campaign team of Trump had filed thousands of lawsuits in different courts around the country after the 2020 election, with claims ranging from dead voters to hacked voting machines.
Nate Persily explained that the arguments that were made by the supporters of Trump in court were not going according to the law and were inconsistent with each other, which suggested that they were only making claims with evidence to back them up. Persily further stated that it was not difficult for courts to say, where’s the evidence. Persily further noted that Right now they are making these accusations more concrete and then trying to lay the groundwork for an objection afterwards if the election is close.
Trump is trying to get more evidence and has pointed to several incidents in Pennsylvania in recent days with his supporters, which will be used to advance the belief that there was election fraud.
According to Trump, on Monday night, there were some fake ballots amounting to thousands of fraudulent ballot applications in Two two Pennsylvania counties, Lancaster and York. After making the claims, the Lancaster County officials accepted that they had uncovered a hundred fraudulent voter registration applications, staying some other counties were seeing such applications.
York County officials have said they are reviewing a large batch of voter registration and mail ballot applications but have declined to offer more details so far.
A post made by Trumo on social media stated that what was happening in Pennsylvania was really bad he went on to call on the the Law Enforcement to act and do their their job immidietly.
The RNC chairman, Whatley, on published a picture of a woman who was reportedly arrested at a voting service center in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. He noted that the arrest was voters impression he went on to charge voters to not officials turn them away.
It was discussed in an official statement by Delaware County officials. that the woman in question was being disruptive, belligerent, and attempting to influence voters waiting in line and was arrested by local police.
A video of the woman, RNC delegate and volunteer Val Biancaniello, being escorted out in handcuffs was widely shared by Trump allies, including one of those who helped orchestrate similar fraud claims in 2020. The next day, she was side-by-side with Whatley in a video posted on X.
She claimed that there was lots of voter suppression happening in Delaware County and throughout Pennsylvania. According to her, it was unfortunate noting that the people should have free and fair elections, which is why it’s so important to elect Donald J. Trump. Trump further escalated his voter fraud claims in a post on Truth Social on Wednesday morning.
The former president went on to state that Pennsylvania was cheating and getting caught at unprecedented levels. He charged people to report all cases of cheating to law enforcement agencies and called on them to act immediately.
In a response, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro on X stated that Trump is using the same playbook to stoke chaos as he did four years ago.
