The Authorities have announced the arrest of one person after the brutal murder of a strange dancer. The body was discovered in a burning car on an Arizona interstate more than a year ago.
It was disclosed that Sencere Hayes, 22 was arrested by police on November 11 in Tennessee in connection with the murder of Mercedes Vega, 22, April 17, 2023, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
It was further disclosed that the sheriff’s office and local prosecutors have begun work to extradite Hayes to Arizona. The statement further stated that the case had remained active and investigations were still ongoing. The authorities further noted that more information would not be disclosed when the investigation was still ongoing.
It is unclear what the charges brought against Hayes are, the place he is being held, or if there is a lawyer to stand for him.
Speaking on the killing of Vega’s mother, Erika Pillsbury stated that after the incident has happened for 19 months justice may not be served again,
She explained that she now knows the person who committed the murder and the person will finally pay for the act.
Vega’s body was discovered in the back seat of a Chevy Malibu early April 17 on the shoulder of Interstate 10 near Tonopah, approximately 52 miles west of Phoenix, according to a sheriff’s incident report. Vega, who performed at a Phoenix strip club and had plans to become a personal trainer, had been beaten, shot and burned, according to her autopsy.
The pathologist who reviewed her autopsy for NBC News stated that her face appeared like she was bath with some bleach before the actual murder.
Before her murder, some security Cameras in her apartment showed her walking into the garage where she had parked her Dodge Charger, according to one of the reports from the Video which was obtained by the Journalist. On April 18, the Charger was found in the centre of a road around a mile from Vega’s flat, the sheriff’s office has said. It isn’t clear how the vehicle got there. Authorities have declined to comment.
The family has stated that they had earlier found blood on the floor where her vehicle was parked which has indicated that she was molested before she was abducted and subsequently killed. Efforts to speak with the sheriff’s office failed as they declined comments,
The incident report has disclosed that the Malibu Vega’s body was found to have a salvage title and had previously been registered to a person who couldn’t be reached for comment
A spokesman for the car’s most recent owner, State Farm Insurance, has refused to comment, mentioning customer privacy policy and sensitivities surrounding this tragedy.
The 911 caller who reported the car fire saw someone walking around the Malibu, according to the report, but the report has failed to provide further information about the person.
