Afrobeat sensation David Adeleke known famousoy as Davido, has sparked debate about the progidy of governance in Nigeria following the view of his recent interview.
During his previous interview, Davido vowed that Nigeria lacks true democracy while expressing his love for the American democratic system.
Expressing further on the episode of The Morning Hustle podcast, Davido compared the Nigerian political approach with that of the United States, ridiculing the Nigerian Democracy.
The singer also disclosed that he voted for Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party during the U.S. elections. He added that despite voting for her, he still congratulated Donald Trump on his victory.
His words:
“I congratulated Donald Trump. That’s the president! What are you talking about? If I were running against him, I would still have congratulated him,”
“What I like about America is that there’s true democracy. Where I come from [Nigeria], it’s not so,” he added.
The incredible singer also revealed the peak reason for voting Kamala Harris, asserting that he always wished for a female president.
His words:
“To be honest, I voted for Kamala Harris because I wanted to see the first female president in my generation. That would have been cool.”

In recent buzz, related to politics, Davido was heavily criticised for discouraging foreigners considering relocating to Nigeria by rubbishing the Nigerian economy at the international level.
He opined that the Nigerian economy is in a shamble state while discouraging foreigners not to relocate anytime soon. This attracted criticism to him, escalating to the point that he defended his opinion.
