The Abia State governor, Alex Otti has urged the people of Abia State to disregard the recent jabs and tantrums thrown at him by members of the opposition parties in the state, describing it as noise.
The governor speaking at an event on Saturday said the opposition party members are solely acting for their selfish interests and not for the welfare of Abians. He described the gathering of the oppositions against him as “a failed project” and said it’s only meant to distract the progress his administration is making towards building the Abia State that everyone once dreamt of.
Recall that about three former governors of Abia State, including Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, have been making public outings recently and boasting of their concerted efforts towards unseating the incumbent Abia State governor, Alex Otti.
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu during a recent gathering with other APC members, said as far as he is concerned, Alex Otti is a one-termed governor and asked him to start writing his Will as he won’t be returning to power in 2027.
The former governor and now senator, Orji Uzor alleged that governor Otti hasn’t done any fascinating project that deserves applause, adding that Otti’s performance as a governor is been overrated by the public.
The senator also claimed that he (Orji Uzor) deserves accolades for the famous Portharcult road project which is one of Governor Alex Otti’s major projects so far, Kalu claimed he constructed the road and that Otti only helped to “repaint it”.
Reacting to the several comments made recently by the opposition party members, governor Alex Otti during a church dedication service at the Abia North Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Umuahia North LGA on Saturday, described them as empty barrels that make the loudest noise.
He said “Pastor Uguru made reference to the noise that you may have been hearing in the last few days. I want us to just dismiss it as noise, you know, and it’s always the empty barrel that makes the loudest noise.
The governor reiterated that his administration would continue with its work to change narratives in the state, noting that the opposition politicians are not interested in the welfare of the people.
“We should just do what we are doing. In everything, they will not talk about you, the Abia people. They are talking about themselves. But they are a tiny minority.
“And God doesn’t make mistakes. And he doesn’t have an unfinished project. So, I don’t want anybody to lose breath or worry about it,” Otti urged the congregants.
