After going viral in recent weeks, popular content creator Chukwuebuka Amuzie popularly known as Brain Jotter has claimed he is on the look-out for the original singer of Igbo folklore tune “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo” Gentleman Mike Ejeagha in a post.
In a post on Instagram over the weekend, social media celebrity and Influencer Tunde Olaoluwa Adekunle also known as Tunde Ednut stated that the content creator wished to gift the aged and Igbo folklore legend two million Naira if he is found.
In recent weeks, social media users around Nigeria have used the song to create what has been referred to as the “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo dance challenge” with the original dancer Brain Jotter gaining over one million views on TikTok in past weeks for his moves.
Recently the legend entertained and hosted guests in his home by bearing several gifts and appreciating him for his contribution to the rich Igbo culture in the past years of his musical career.
The song in its deep meaning explains the cleaver triumph of the Tortoise over the Elephant, in a post seen on social media Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala, and some of her teammates have jumped on the dance challenge after arriving for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic games in Bordeaux.
The move in the last weeks has brought Gentle Mike back to the limelight in the Igbo traditional music scene with notable celebrities jumping on the dance challenge.
Recently, former Big Brother Naija housemate, Tobi Bakre, and his wife jumped on the dance challenge, the challenge currently has been ranked as the biggest among Nigerian social media users with school children, content creators and the elderly catching fun with the rich and thought-provoking song.
The song was reportedly sung 41 years ago by the Lenged before the birth of Chukwuebuka Amuzie and has been a hidden tune until Brain Jotter utilized it in his social media dance challenge.
The search for the legend continues as a post on social media Brain Jotter has claimed that a Two Million Naira gift for the legend is currently hanging urging his followers to provide relevant information about him. It is unclear how long the search will continue.
