Nollywood veteran Olori Funmilayo Adedeji has voiced her displeasure of how migration and population in Canada had distrupted communal living.
During a recent podcast where she was invited as a guest, Funmilayo Adedeji disclosed that she is quite concerned about how far communal living has fallen off in Canada.
According to her, the days bonding prevails amongst civilians are gone as population and experiences has plummeted union over money.
She emphasized trust, recalling that in the 90s, it was just so common as if they lived in Nigeria, however, everything changed.
She added that in those days, friends were like families but today ‘because of the population, there are a lot of people who don’t trust others,’ expressing that people don’t trust each other as much, admitting that communal living is gradually fading.
She explained that people don’t even trust these days as they all bid money at all dimension. Pouring out her frustration further, she detailed her motive on the situation.
Her words:
“The trust has changed Now there is less trust in people, I remember back in the 90’s, there was communal living and we just continued on as if we were in Nigeria,”
“Back then, your friends were like family, but these days, because of the crowd, there are a lot of people who don’t trust others. Now people don’t trust each other as much and people will disappoint you and because of that, communal living is being ripped apart gradually,”
“When you see a new person now, you are skeptical and unsure of whether to trust them. Because of the crowd, we are losing a bit of that communal living. Before, people could naturally give each other favours but now everything is about money.”
“A lot of people are migrating and the world is changing so people are so money conscious and nothing goes for nothing anymore and it’s the reality that we are faced with”
Concerned Nigerians took to their social media handles and reacted massively according to their feelings.
