Newly crowned Miss universe Nigeria Chidimma Adetshina has stressed that she didn’t clinch the prize by Pity votes.
Recall that Chidimma Adetshina withdrew from her spot as a Miss South Africa contestant following heated sagas linked to alleged fraud and Identity theft.
Followed by Xenophobic pressure and threats directed at her mother, Chidimma withdrew from her spot and was immediately offered a chance to compete for the same prize in Nigeria.
She accepted the offer and emerged victorious. This sparked concerns as many paraded that she triumphed from pity votes.
In her recent interview, she debunked the motive, asscerting that she has worked hard for her position.
Her words:
“A lot of people felt like it was a pity win. I don’t think so. I feel like I really worked so hard, coming from the South Africa journey. We spent like 10 weeks, camp, going through the whole journey.”
“It might have been a slight difference compared to everybody else, but if you have to look at the journey that we have all been through, I feel like I really had the same experience with other contestants”
Nigerians couldn’t hold their nerves and reacted massively via all the social media platforms.
Chidimma Adetshina will also represent Nigeria at the highest stage as she is set to compete for the incoming miss universe.
