Nigerian reality TV star Mercy Eke has sparked reactions after revealing that her boyfriend pays her an allowance.
The actress, who was featured in her previous podcast, detailed that she didn’t demand an allowance as her boyfriend had resorted to paying her the allowance voluntarily.
She stated that he is paying her the allowance to help clear her domestic employee fees, as she has many.
She confessed her love for the mystery man while outlining her plan to reciprocate his effort in their relationship.
Her words
“My guy pays me an allowance. But it’s not that I mandated him to do that. I have about six domestic workers. So the allowance is just to assist me in paying my staff.”
“I didn’t tell him to pay my staff’s salaries. He’s doing it on his own to reduce my responsibilities. Because of that, I always want to do things for him too.”

Among couples in Nigeria, paying allowance has been a key debate following how many finds it odd. Some believe women should be able to genuinely deploy their love and affection without monetising the natural phenomenon. However, some women in the other view believe they should be paid to love and to be loved.
