Veteran actress and singer Onyeka Onwenu, has passed on

According to reports, renowned Nigerian singer and actress Onyeka Onwenu passed suddenly at the age of 72.

Onyeka Onwenu is known for her popular hit “Ekwe”

She reportedly passed away on Tuesday night at Reddington Hospital in Lagos after passing out at Mrs. Stella Okoli’s birthday celebration.

“It is very sad. Onyeka Onwenu just performed at the birthday of Mrs. Stella Okoli today (Tuesday, July 30, 2024), and after performing, she slumped.

She was taken to Reddington Hospital and she couldn’t make it,” the eyewitness stated.

The deceased’s family has not yet made an official announcement of her passing as of the time of publication. We shall always remember Onyeka Onwenu for her musical albums, including Dancing in the Sun and In the Morning Light. She also starred in movies like Lionheart and Half of a Yellow Sun, among others.
