Mrs Elizabeth Uruakpa, an assistant Chief nursing Officer at the prestigious Babcock University teaching hospital was kidnapped by a number of unknown bandits on Thursday.
Report says that the 66 years old lady was abducted by these men while coming from an evening church service, the gunmen ambushed and took her in their car, this happened close to her house at Ilisan market.
Many shop owners and residents around got scared and shut their businesses and doors to avoid suffering same fate as the lady, while speaking to reporters from the PUNCH, a resident of the area narrated the mishap to the them saying.
“The woman was coming back from the church in the evening around 7 pm when the gunmen abducted her. I know her very well, she’s a senior nursing staff with Babcock University Teaching Hospital and a member of the Winners’ Chapel.
“They dragged her down from her vehicle, put her in their red Toyota car and sped away. It was really like thunder and lightning, and such a thing had never happened before in our neighbourhood. It is so strange and scary.”
Dr Joshua Suleiman, the university’s director of communication and media confirmed the disturbing development to a news correspondent on Friday saying, “I heard about it last night. It is on one of the university’s platforms but I don’t have a comprehensive report about it. Someone is already working on getting more information about this and as soon as it is ready, I will get across to you. ”
Also confirming the news, Omolola Odutola, the Ogun state police command spokesperson said that, “On September 5, a distress call was received from the Ilishan near the new market at about 1710hrs that one Elizabeth Uruakpa was abducted by young armed men who blocked her Honda CRV with their unregistered red Toyota Camry and zoomed off with her. Updates later.”
In a similar vein, Olomojobi, a professor at the university was also kidnapped and shot by the a group of armed abductors on April 19, 2024 at the Ajadeh event centre, along the Iperu/Sagamu way in the state.
