Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, an influential Nigerian politician and federal lawmaker representing Anambra South senatorial district has reportedly died at the age of 52.
Senator Ubah, before his demise, was reportedly flown out of the country for medical care after he became seriously ill.
While details of his death have remained sketchy as of press time, the federal lawmaker was said to have been admitted in a London-based hospital where he eventually died as his condition became worse and critical within the last 48 hours before his death.
Confirming the incident, Senate spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, while speaking to news men said, “It’s confirmed, but I am sending an official statement soon.”
Senator Ubah, who was the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil, was elected into Nigeria’s 10th senate in 2019 under the aegis of the Young Peoples Party, YPP.
Earlier this year, the deceased, while still in the senate house, defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC and declared an interest in contesting for governorship position in Anambra state where he hails from.
He is reported to have contested the 2021 Anambra governorship election and came fourth in a contest won by Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
