The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Christopher Musa, has announced the reconstitution of the operations in Zamfara State with the aim of curbing the escalating activities of bandits in the state,
He disclosed that the new operations had been assumed by the theatre command status, with General Officers Commanding serving as component commanders.
While explaining the reason for the development the minister dosclsoed that the the move was taken to ensure an improved collaborations and the control of all security foramtiaon in the state. He noted that the move will enahence the level of communitin between the agencies and security agencies.
A statement which was released by the .Director of Defence Information, Brig Gen Tukur Gusau, disclosed that the the Chief of Defence Staff made the comments while he paid a visit to the governor of Zamfara State.
It was disclosed in the statement that the new operational name for the operation in the state is Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
The state disclosed that the CDS, during his visit to the governor, had taken the opportunity to inform him of the new development, which is the change in the Defence Headquarters-led operations in the state. The CDS noted that the operation in the state have now gone to the level of assuming a theatre command status, with General Officers Commanding as component commanders.
The statement disclosed that the CDS had told the governor that the new initiative was aimed at proper synergy and control between state actors. It was also established that the new move had changed the name of the operations in the state to Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
The CDS also told the governor according to the statement that an additional deployment of military platforms to achieve better results had been approved by the president Bola Tinubu.
The CDS, while speaking with the governor, disclosed that the military would collaborate with all the security formations in the state and the state-owned security outfits to ensure a better performance. He noted that the army can not be at all places at once, which necessitated the collaboration to achieve peace in the state,
The statement further disclosed that the military chief had promised to protect the lives of farmers in the state and vowed to bring all the bandits down and bring them to justice; he disclosed that the military would soon clean the state of banditry.
He noted that when the farmer are protected and they have access to their farms, the harvest in the country will increase, which will reduce the level of hardship in the country.
He noted that the heads of security deployed to the state were committed, and he constituted a committed team in the state to bring all bandits to justice.
Musa advised the residents of the state to refrain from providing information to the bandits that may undermine the military operations in the state. He advised the residents to provide useful information to the military with the aim of making the state peaceful.
In his address to the troops, the CDS charged them with developing a positive mindset towards winning the war against the bandits in the state. He noted that the government would provide every support they needed to perform well in the operation. He also promised to make their welfare a priority.
