The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on Wednesday announced the carting away of corruption charges documents on the former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, at the state high court by some unknown hoodlums.
The development was announced on Wednesday in a statement by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin Tofa.
The governor, who visited the scene of the vandalism at the start of the high court, explained that the documents were taken away by criminals during the hunger protest in the state. The governor, through his spokesperson, has described the vandalism as a sponsored mission by some individuals who are against the state.
The governor who decried the outcome explained that some individuals who had been paid had vandalised the most historic building in the state; he noted that the mission was only to avert the corruption trial of the former governor of the state, DR. Abdullahi Ganduje, his family, and aides who have been accused of stealing the funds meant for the state.
It was also disclosed the vandals, who were on a criminal mission, had gone on to destroy all the units of the court, including the office of the chief judge; the statement added that the miscreants were the number of people who were against the progress of the state.
The governor charged the youths in the state to stay away from being used as enemies of the state to engage in a form of violence. He further charged the residents to buy the idea of learning skills and entrepreneurship, highlighting that the government will continue to make efforts to protect lives and property in the state
The governor will also direct the immediate rehabilitation of the building and the deployment of adequate security to aid effective justice delivery in the state.
The former state governor has been facing a series of corruption charges for the state in recent months.
