In the heat of the mass deportation being executed in the United States of America, the Federal Government, through the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission has revealed its readiness to welcome Nigerians who will be affected by Trump’s deportation wave.

This was disclosed by the commission’s Director of Media and Corporate Affairs, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, during an interview on Tuesday evening. He noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was in charge of that development.

Balogun also mentioned that the federal government has set up an inter-agency committee to address the situation in case any Nigerians are deported from the US.

“The Federal Government has set up an inter-agency committee, comprising the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NiDCOM, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and office of the National Security Adviser, NSA, should there be mass deportation of Nigerians from the US.”

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission revealed that the commission was not aware of any Nigerians in America being processed for deportation yet, however, all modalities have been put in place to welcome them should there be such development in the later days.

Note that over 3,690 Nigerians in the United States are currently at risk of deportation due to Donald Trump’s stringent measures targeting illegal immigrants in the country.

In the document compiled by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations and made available to journalists on Tuesday evening, the agency revealed the data is broken down by nationality and number of people faced with deportation.
