A flood which has incident has affected several households and other properties, including farm crops in Bode-Saadu, headquarters of Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State; the flood started on Thursday in the state after rainfall of several hours.
The residents of the community have stated that the rainfall in the community had taken over most of their properties in the state and has also destroyed their farm crops attracting the attention of the state governor, who visited the place. The flood was also said to have affected some other communities in the state.
The resident lamneted that the dualisation of the Ilorin-Jebba-Mokwa Road by the Federal Government had contributed the flood incident which had destroyed their properties.
They had started to move out of their homes in the community when the flood water became uncontrollable, but household items and livestock were left behind.

In a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, he disclosed that the governor who visited the state was accompanied by the Commissioner for Special Duties, John Bello and the Special Adviser (Special Duties), Abdulrazaq Jiddah. According to him, the governor had gone round all the communities in the area inorder to have a good knowledge of the incident that had affected the community.
While speaking, the governor noted that they were in the community to assess the level of destruction caused by the flood and that it was important to ensure the safety of everyone in the community.
He further noted that the government had realised that there was work done in the community, which was the dualisation of the Ilorin-Mokwa Road by the Federal Ministry of Works. He disclosed that the contractors had constructed an area where the residents could pass through the community. However, the construction was failed. He noted that an expert had been asked to look at the issues.
He further said that the director of the Highway Federal Ministry of Works and other experts will be in the community to find an immediate solution to the problem. The state governor also disclosed that a directive was given to the State Emergency Management Agency for some relief measures.
The governor further begged the residents to avoid setbacks, noting that the major issues seen in the communities around the nations have been people not observing setbacks. He noted that the government would intensify efforts to ensure that people observe setbacks for the safety of all the people in the state at all times.

Before leaving the community, Governor Abdulrazaq directed the immediate rehabilitation of the Moro Steel Bridge, which is the of the state with Oyo State; the directive was given after the bridge saw multiple cracks which have been caused by usage over the years.
It was learned that the bridge was originally constructed decades ago by the Federal Military Administration, and its deteriorating condition made it dangerous for human and vehicular traffic.
It was explained that the intervention is a stop-gap measure to address the immediate concerns of the people pending the completion of a new concrete bridge by the Federal Government.
