Eze Sergeant Awuse has been removed from his position as the Chairman of the State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers Council by Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
the Governor made this announcemebt on Friday during a special meeting with the traditional rulers. At the Banquet hall in Rivers state.
Subsequently, Fubara made Eze Chike Wodo the new chairman of the council, saying that this is because the position could not stay empty.
While at the meeting, the governor asserted that Awuse’s recent involvement in the state’s ongoing issue has prevented him from successfully leading the council for some time.
Fubara stated that Awuse is unstable, pointing out that since the state’s political crisis, he has been acting with partiality.
Fubara stated that, “It is like your chairman has run away. Maybe when your chairman is ready, he will write to me. If he gets the approval, he can then come for the meeting.
“But you already know his position. He is not a stable man, he is not a stable character. He cannot say something in the morning and say another thing in the evening.
“It is because of that he decided to hide his head. You have to bear with him until when God will help us remove this problem you are having. By the grace of God, it will be resolved soon.”
Recall that Awuse succeeded King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, the previous Chairman of the Council, at the behest of former state governor Nyesom Wike.
But due to the recent political upheaval, the State House of Assembly, under the direction of Martin Amaewhule, passed a statute forbidding Fubara from meddling in the affairs of the traditional council’s leadership.
