The Police in Jigawa State have announced the arrest of a 26-year-old Nura Mas’ud, who is said to be a resident of Mu’azu village of Sule Tankarkar LGA. He was arrested for allegedly his 60-year-old grandmother, Zuwaira Muhammad, ablaze.
It was learned on Sunday that the victim had, on different occasions, expressed concerns over the appearance of the suspect, which has degenerated after concerns were raised over the mental health of the adult. It was disclosed to the grandmother in different instances that the suspect had been provided with several warnings that had been served to the victim, but the act persisted.
In an audio clip made available to the public, the suspect was heard voicing his displeasure with the act of the grandmother after she made several moves to learn about his health status; the suspect further noted that his decision to set the victim ablaze had made he stop every act of questioning about his health status.
While confirming the incident, the Jigawa State Police Command’s spokesman, Shiisu Lawan Adam, noted that the incident was reported to the command, disclosing that the suspect has been taken into custody with preliminary investigations ongoing. The PPRO noted that the suspect was confirmed to be suffering from mental health issues and has been sent to the Kazaure Psychiatric Hospital for proper medical care. He noted that the suspect, before the incident, was suffering from mental health issues.
Narratiging how the incidnet took place the PPRO noted the suspect had visited the house with a petrol canister and suddenly poured it on his grandmother, Zuwaira Muhammad, who is in her sixties. He noted that the incident took place at Mu’azu village, Sule Tankarkar LGA, of the state. The PPRO noted that the suspect is currently 26 years old.
He noted that the victim, after the incident, was rushed to a hospital close to the village. She was confirmed dead after receiving treatment for days. It was also confirmed that the suspect had told the police about his action, citing several times of
