The contraversy regarding the selling the sell of sprotual items by the Senior Prophet of Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministry, Jeremiah Fufeyin, took a different turn on Tuesday when over seven bishops led a team of protesters to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control office in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
On their arrival, the protesters called the NAFDAC to refrain from attacking the Senior Prophet of Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministry.
It was learnt that the protesters are members of the Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministry, pastored by Jeremiah Fufeyin. The protesters had defiled the heavy rain to register their grievances at the NAFDAC office. They took placards with different inscriptions written on them. Some of them had inscriptions such as “Spiritual products have spiritual backing, don’t need NAFDAC approval, When it comes to spiritual, respect it among others.
The Metropolitan Archbishop of the Charismatic Anglican Church of Nigeria, who spoke on behalf of the protesters, explained that the NAFDAC does not have the right to speak on spiritual matters. He explained that the protesters were all men of God, and they had taken to the office to caution the office from speaking on spiritual matters.
The Archbishop claimed that NAFDAC has no right to regulate spiritual products. He explained that people can only do little when issues of faith are raised.
Another protester, the Rector Union Theological Institute and Seminary, Port Harcourt, Evangelical Church, Calixtus and Most Celestine Ewurum, explained that their protest was concerned with the issues which have involved the use of spiritual materials and items.
He explained that according to what he has read in the NAFDAC Act, 2004, the agency does not have the power to regulate spiritual items in the country, He noted if the act has been amended the he was not aware. He went to state that the organization does not have the right to decalere the products fake when it has not been tested.
The protesters further demanded that the agency should come out to speak on the bad aspects of the water.
In a statement on Sunday, the NAFDAC’s Director General, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, alerted Nigerians to the activities of a faith-based organisation, Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries, led by Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, using the agency’s name to deceive the unsuspecting public. The DG disclosed that none of the products advertised by the church were registered with the organization.
She advised the public to stay away from buying and using the products.
