Kanu government donates N100 million to Jigawa tanker explosion victim

The Kano State Government has announced the donation of N100 million, which will be used to support the victims of the tanker explosion that took place in Majiya town, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, which recently claimed several lives.

The governor of the state, Abba Yusuf, announced the donation during the condolence visitation paid to the state government and the governor, Umar Namadi, at the Government House in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, on Thursday.

It was disclosed that the tanker explosion had claimed not less than 153 victims who were given mass burial in the state on Wednesday; it was further noted that other individuals who had sustained various degrees of injuries were taken to the hospital and received treatments.

While announcing the donation in statement the spokesperson to the Kanu governor Sanusi Tofa noyed that the good will by the state was meant to provide a form of relief to the victims of the accident in the state, he noted that the donation was meant also for the families of the dead victims.

He noted that the donation was meant to provide some support to the families of the persons who had lost their lives in the incident.

In an earlier message by the governor of Kanu State, he sent his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and those recovering from injuries, offering prayers for the Almighty to prevent future tragedies of this nature.

While responding to the gesture, the Jigawa state governor noted that he was happy with the gesture extended by the Kanu government. He expressed his deep gratitude on behalf of the state’s people and prayed to God to replenish the government of Kanu state.

He noted that the funds will be properly used to assist the families and individuals that have fallen victim of the incident.

In another donation, the governor, Yusuf, made a sympathy visit to the traders at the Kantin Kwari Textile Market and donated N100 million to victims of a fire that engulfed 29 shops in the market.
