A student of the Kwara State College of Health Technology, Mojisola Awesu, has been confirmed dead by the police after her dead body was found at a refuse dump in the state.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi noted the victim was contracted by her friend to act as a girlfriend to another young student from another tertiary institution in the state for the sum of N15,000. The body was found dead at a refuse dump site in the Aleniboro area of Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
The statement revealed that on the 12 of August 2024, a resident of the state had alerted the police about a dead body that was found by some individuals who were working at the refuse dump area. Police after receiving the information, a team was at the scene, and the body was recovered; the individual was initially identified as Awasu before the body was deposited in the mortuary.
According to her statement, the police had received a report of a missing person. One Miss Blessing made the report. The reporter named the victim Mojisola Awesu. It was reported that the victim had left home to attend a birthday party organised by some students of a private institution in the town.
The PPRO, who further narrated the incident, noted the victim had, on August 9th, received a call from one Miss Timileyin, who invited her to a party which the students organised from Summit University and Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin. It was explained that when the victim arrived the venne and felt uncomfortable with the environment, she was introduced to the victim earlier to Mr Adebayo Happiness, a student of Summit University who had asked the victim to act a girlfriend for N15,0000.
The call was made with Miss Blessing, who reported the case to the police. It was her last conversation as all efforts to speak with her proved abortive until the discovery of her lifeless body.
The PPRO explained that the police command had commenced investigations into the murder, with some suspects already arrested and undergoing interrogation by the State Criminal Investigation Department in the state capital.
