The Nigeran Police, through the Operatives of the Special Tactical Squad, have announced the arrest of a 30-year-old woman identified as Hauwa Yusuf for hiding one AK47 and four AK magazines inside a sack of garri. She was arrested during a stop and search operation along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
The Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed yesterday’s arrest while the suspect was being paraded at the STS Headquarters in Abuja on Friday. They noted that the suspect had confessed that she was on her way to deliver the gun to Danum Madam Camp in Kastina state. She explained that she was acting with the command of one Aminu Basullube, a notorious bandit for the past years.
Providing further details the Force PPRO noted that on August 14th 2024 the police officer who were staioned on the road acted on intelligence and intercepted the suspect, he noted that the suspect was on transit from Lafia Nasarawa State to Katsina State. in Sienna Bus.
He noted that when the search was conducted, one AK-47 Rifle without breach Number and Four AK magazines concealed inside a white Sack of Garri were called from the suspect. He further disclosed that when the police interrogated the suspect, she disclosed that she was on hand to deliver the file in Kastina State.
While answering questions, the suspect noted that the garri was only given to her, not knowing that a gun was concealed in the bag. The suspect disclosed that the sender had told her that he was sending Miliet to Kaduna state, but they went on to give her a bag of garri instead. The suspect disclosed that she was offered N130,000 to take the garri, and she spent ₦15,000 for her transport.
The PPRO also disclosed that some operatives of the FID-STS were deployed to Oyo state to investigate the activities of Musa Saidu. He said the operatives started the investigation on the 29th of April.
After a series of investigations, he noted that the suspect had left his community for five years and returned to his community. Upon his return, the suspect was seen spending money extravagantly with the purchase of different motorcycles (BAJAJ) and 12 cows in a single day; his total expenditure was reportedly N5,000,000.00.
The suspect confessed to the crimes and explained that he was operating under one Haruna in Birnin Gwari forest of Kaduna State. The suspect explained that he used an AK-47 rifle during his stay with his commander, Haruna, in the forest. He disclosed that the command gave him twenty-five cows as compensation for the crimes committed by the groups. He noted that all the cows were sold in Kaduna state, which gave him N4,700,000.00, which he said was used in purchasing the bikes.
The suspect disclosed that his participation in the crime of cattle rustling started after he feel victim of the crime, he lammentd that the police operatives had arrested him after he had concluded his mission and returning back to his village to enjoy his proceeds.
