The police in Jagawa State have announced the arrest of Bashir Umar, a 32-year-old, for defiling an eight-year-old girl; the suspect had reportedly taken the victim into a restroom, tortured and sexually assaulted her. He was arrested on August 29, 2024,
The incident was announced by the spokesman for the Jigawa Police Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, in statement made available in state on Sunday. He noted that the suspect was from Galamawa town, Dutse LGA.
The PPRO explained that the aged man had subjected the victim to a level of torture that could not be imagined; after the torture incident, he allegedly went on to assault the victim sexually.
Narrating the act of the suspect, the PPRO disclosed that the suspect inserted a pair of scissors and a spoon into the girl’s vagina and anus of the victim.
The suspect inserted some undisclosed substance into the child’s private parts; the insertion had led to uncontrollable bleeding of the victim. She was unconscious, too, the PPRO disclosed.
The suspect, who threatened to hurt the victim and the parent if the incident was disclosed to anyone, offered the victim N150 after committing all the atrocities.
The suspect, according to the PPRO, has been in the act of assaulting the teenager sexually anytime she was found on her way to school; in the case of past incidents, the suspect had always threatened the girl, which had silenced her all the time.
The PPRO confirmed that the victim, because of the effect of the assaults by the suspect, developed several complications, such as urinary and stool-related complications.
When the suspect was interrogated by the police, it was disclosed that the victim confessed to their protracted extramarital affairs with the suspect. It was confirmed that the victim was currently at the Rashid Shekoni Teaching Hospital, Dutse, where she was admitted and receiving treatment.
On the other hand, the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Dutse, where more investigations will be conducted.
