The Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) has appointed Mr. Michael Hadi Ango as its Acting Chairman.
The appointment was approved by Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The new Acting Chairman brings experience and a track record in financial management, organisational leadership, and revenue administration, according to a statement signed by the Minister’s office director, Mr. Anthony Ogunleye.
Ogunleye clarified that Mr. Ango has continuously shown his dedication to quality and innovation in revenue collection and management throughout his more than 20 years of service in a variety of public and private sector roles.
The Director further mentioned that Ango has a Bachelor of Law from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, acquired in 2002, and an LLM from Columbia University School of La New York, gained in 2019.
He completed his executive education in comparative tax policy and administration at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in 2013 after attending the Nigeria Law School in 2003.
Mr. Ango has participated in the following strategic committees in his professional capacity: “i. Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms; ii. President Ethics Committee of the International Automobile Federation; iii. Federal of the Ministry of Finance Fiscal Policy Reform Committee.” Committees on Finance, Employment Bureau, and Working Group on AFCFTA are part of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Among other organisations, he is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
Mr. Ango will supervise the execution of strategic initiatives aimed at improving revenue generation and guaranteeing fiscal sustainability in his capacity as Acting Chairman of the FCT-IRS. According to the Director, the FCT-IRS is trying to increase taxpayer compliance, broaden its revenue base, and streamline operations to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
These goals make the timing of the Director’s appointment critical. Mr. Michael Hadi Ango is a married father of three who resides in Kebbi State.
