The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has discovered illegal substances concealed within Cerelac infant food tins.
Femi Babafemi, the agency’s director of media and advocacy, revealed this in videos that were posted on X.com on Sunday.
He wrote, “In their desperation to conceal and export illicit drugs, not even tins of Cerelac baby food are spared.”
Babafemi took the opportunity to caution residents to exercise caution while accepting parcels from others when travelling, despite the fact that the location of the operation and the identity of the suspect or suspects involved were kept under wraps.
In addition, he underlined the dangers of inadvertently conveying illicit narcotics and reminded the public that doing so is punishable by a 15-year prison sentence.
Babafemi added, “This is why we warn people never to accept any package of unknown content from anyone when travelling. Remember, possession means 15 years in jail! Seizures by #ndlea_nigeria.”
Recall that NDLEA agents found illegal substances hidden in incense candles and women’s clothing that were meant to be smuggled into and out of Nigeria through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
