The latest predictions by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) indicate that there will be thunderstorms and rainfall across the country from Monday to Wednesday.
In the outlook released earlier in the week, NiMet stated that there will be daytime thunderstorms over the parts of Kano, Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Jigawa, Kaduna, Taraba and Bauchi.
In the North, Central NiMet has predicted that there will be unsteady rainfall in Niger, Nasarawa, Benue, Kwara, the Federal Capital Territory and Plateau states. It was explained that rain would fall mainly in the morning hours.
The forecast further explained that there would be unstable rains during the day in the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Nasarawa, and Kogi states.
The statement further revealed that there will be unstable rains in some parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom, with potential drizzling in some parts of the country’s southern region, which will happen in the morning hours.
NiMet further predicted rain in the afternoon and evening in the northern states of Bauchi, Kaduna, Kebbi, Gombe, and Yobe.
The statement also revealed that the North Central region will also experience intermittent rains in the states of Plateau and Nasarawa, which will likely begin in the morning hours.
It further warned that strong winds may have been witnessed before the rains, and thunderstorms are also expected. The statement advised the public to take precautions and adhere to safety protocols issued by authorities.
In the evening hours in the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Benue, Kogi and Nasarawa, there are predicted thunderstorms and moderate rains.
The agency advised residents of the affected states to avoid areas that are prone to flooding. Also, residents living in flood-prone areas should vacate the areas for highlands.
