The Director of Information and Public Relations at the National Youth Service Corps Eddy Megwa has denied rumours that the corps members banks accounts are undergoing an upgrade in order to accommodate the new amount due for payment because of the new minimum wage.
The release on Saturday by Eddy Megwa explained that no directive has been received from the government in relation to the corp member eligible to receive 70,000 naira as allowances after the approval of the new minimum wage in the country.
The director stated that the information was totally misleading and false. He went further to advise corps members to beware of peddlers of false and misleading information who are out to pass just fake news and play with the intelligence of the people.
The director advised parents and all individuals concerned to always be fast in verifying every information being spread regarding the NYSC.
The statement further warned bloggers and social media users not to report any issue relating to the NYSC without proper verification from the relevant authorities.
After the signing of the new minimum wage bill by president Bola Tinubu in late July, information have been spreading on social media space saying that corps members will be eligible for at least 70, 000 as allowance and information that was not properly verified.
