Ajayi Crowther University which is located in Oyo State has received full accreditation for 11 more courses from seven different faculties by the National Universities Commission.
The NUC’s June 6, 2024 letter to the institution was referenced in a statement sent to PUNCH Online on Tuesday, announcing this development.
Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Computing Engineering, Electrical Electronics Engineering, Survey and Geo-informatics, Economics, Peace, Strategic and Conflict Resolution are among the recently accredited programs. Furthermore, provisional accreditation was granted to Radiation Science and Radiography.
The NUC claimed that the certification was given in compliance with Section 10(l) of the Education Act, which gives the commission the authority to accredit and set minimum academic requirements for programs offered in Nigerian institutions.
“It is with immense pleasure that I announce the recent accreditation of additional courses by the Nigeria Universities Commission.
“This significant achievement signifies the University’s unwavering commitment to providing high-quality education and maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence,” the VC of the university stated.
The Vice-Chancellor emphasized on how stringent the accreditation procedure is, involving extensive NUC reviews.
“The fact that our courses have met and exceeded these standards is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and expertise of our faculty, staff, and students,” he added.
Professor Adebayo went on to emphasize the importance of this accomplishment for the students at the university and the larger community.
“Accredited courses ensure that our students receive an education that is recognised and respected both nationally and internationally. It opens doors for further academic pursuits and enhances their employment prospects in an increasingly competitive global market,” he stated.
When the university was informed of the impending accrediting exercise by the NUC’s Executive Secretary in September 2023, the accreditation procedure got underway. NUC teams then visited ACU from October through December to evaluate the school’s preparedness and adherence to accreditation requirements.
