Police arrest 18 violent protesters in Yobe

The police in Yobe state have announced the arrest of 18 suspected persons in connection with the violence that mard the hunger protest that occurred in some parts of the start.

DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the police public relations officer of the state, in an interview on Friday, noted that the suspects, who pretended to be peaceful protesters, had burnt down houses and public vehicles and stolen empowerment materials.

He established that the suspects would be charged in court after concluding the ongoing investigations.

The PPRO noted that the men of the police force and other security agencies will fully enforce the current dust-to-dawn curfew enforced in the state. He noted that the curfew was enforced to maintain law and order in the state.

He urged the residents of different communities in the state to collaborate with the government in establishing a relationship with the police in order to help in the provision of credible information that will flush out criminals in the state.

Yobe state has become one of the most hit states in the current violence that has hit the hunger protest that started in major cities around the country on Thursday.

It was learnt that three individuals were shot dead in a filling station in the state on Thursday.
