The Ogun State Police Command had disclosed that it had arrested four individuals in an alleged act of exhuming and mutilating the body of a teenager who died of electrocution.

The arrest was announced by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, in a statement on Friday. She noted that the suspects were arrested close to a river in Igbosoro village on Friday. She disclosed the identity of one of the suspects, Ogidan Mustapha, while three others (names undisclosed).

The PPRO noted that the suspects were arrested by some operatives of the Vigilante group after they had noticed their suspicious activities in the area. They were arrested at about 1:30 am which led to an intensive search of the area by the operatives.

When the search was conducted, the PPRO noted that Mustapha was first arrested with the corpse of the teenager wrapped in a mat with both hands cut off.

She noted that the operative, when they took a closer look at the corpse it was discovered that it was the body of a young girl, Oriyomi Gboyega ‘f’ 13-year-old, with both of her hands amputated and wrapped in a mat. The body was reportedly left near the river in the community by the suspects.

The mother of the victim, while speaking with the police, explained that the young girlPeace Adegboyega ‘f’, had died of electric shock on September 19, 2024, at about 10:20 am. She explained that efforts were being made for the burial the following day. She noted that she was surprised that it was discovered that the body of the girl had been found with the neighbour with the hands cut off.

The State PPRO also disclosed that when the suspect was arrested and his house was searched, the police recovered ammunition and local charms. The suspect told the police that the father of the dead girl had told him to help in the burial of the lady girl.

The police also noted that the police also arrested three other suspects who were found digging the grave where the girl was to be reportedly buried.

The search of the house by the combined team of the Divisional Police Officer and the Vigilante group led to the recovery of Two English pump action rifles, which the suspect has been using in committing crimes in the state.
