The police in Jigawa State have confirmed the arrest of a fraudster in separate operations for motorbike thievery and animal rustling.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Lawan Adam, made the arrest public on Monday at a press briefing in the state capital of Dutse.
The PPRO noted that a police officer attached to the Criminal Investigation Department in the state capital on August 28, 2024, arrested 45-year-old Ilyasu Munkaila, who hails from Asayaya village in Kiyawa Local Government Area of the state. He was arrested for an allegation of fraud conspiracy involving the theft of motorbikes in the state.
According to him, during the investigation, the suspect had confessed to committing the crimes, which involved the collection of N50,000 to be shared as the gains from the crime.
Also, he disclosed that Munkaila confessed to committing the crime and revealed that he was paid N50,000 as his share of the proceeds.
While speaking on the activities that led to the arrest of the suspect, the PPRO noted that one Lhaji Sani Muhammad, 50 years from Kano State, had reported the suspect to the police for an allegation of defruded activities in Nafara village, Birnin Kudu Birnin Kudu, on July 29, 2024.
The police PRO explained that after the police arrested the suspect, there were two motorbikes, two sheep, and a ram from the suspects that the police recovered from the suspect.
The police confirmed that the command has started an intensive plan and investigation to ensure that all the individuals involved in the crime are arrested and brought into custody.
He reemphasized the police commitment to ensuring a better state and safety of lives and property for all residents in the state as no criminal activity won’t be tolerated.
