The police in Ogun state have announced the arrest of four persons suspected to be members of the Aye Confraternity in the Ijoko area of Sango-Ota.

According to the police, the persons arrested were Olanide Balogun, Olamilekan Oyedele, Adeolu Olayinka and Abdulganiyu Azeez. It was disclosed that the suspects were arrested at about 3:00 pm in the state by the operatives of police.

The arrest was disclosed on Wednesday by the spokesperson to the police, Omolola Odutola, on Thursday while speaking to Newsnem.  The suspects, according to earlier reports, have been in the act of terrorising the residents and causing mayhem in the community.

The PPRO explained that the command had received a tipoff and that the arrested suspects had been seen in an area called Ijoko. It was noted that after receiving the information, the divisional police officer of Ango-Ota mobilised and led a team of operatives from the division to the scene. The PPRO noted that when the suspects saw the police they took to their hills scathering around the area.

The brave operatives, according to the PPRO, chased the suspects, which led to the apprehension of one of them; after the arrest, the initial suspect aided the police in arresting the second person.

The police disclosed that the suspect, in the past weeks, has been in the act of armed robbery with a speciality in breaking car windows and attacking innocent road users during traffic jams.

The PPRO noted that the suspects will be taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department, where a discrait investigation will be conducted.

In the past month, it was learnt two persons named Abiodun Salami and Destiny Adeola were arrested in the state for some related act of cultism within the same community where the current arrest had taken place.

It was disclosed that the suspect, alongside some other members of the Eye Confraternity, had gathered in a particular location in the state when the officers of the Sango-Ota division burst their hideout.
